Email verification during password reset
Understand why email verification is required during the password reset process.
You must provide us with your email address as part of the password reset process.
This is because we do not store your raw email address. We store a hash of your email address, which is effectively a sequence of nonsensical characters.
This means that while you have an email address associated with your account, we cannot send you a password reset link because we do not know your email address.
When you provide us with your email address, we confirm that it matches the hash that we have stored, and then send the password reset email to the address that you provided.
If you do not have an email address associated with your account, we generally cannot assist with a password reset.
